Compensating larger amount of thermal expansions by axial expansions joints are only possible by increasing the number of corrugations of the bellow, but this increases the possibility of torsion. Applying inner sleeves may reduce the torsion but they also reduce the movement ability of the expansion joints. Ayvaz’s Externally pressurized expansion joints provide the most suitable solution for such cases.
Externally pressurized expansion joints are used if there would be large axial movements.
This type of expansion joint pressurizes the bellows externally, eliminating column instability concerns for the bellows.
This configuration provides an outside cover protecting bellows from external elements and inside pipe acts as a liner protecting bellows from flow medium and and streamlines the flow.
Expansion joints change the direction of the flow and convey the pressure to the bellows externally. Resistance of externally pressurized bellows against high pressure and torsion forces increases. This firm structure makes compensating large movements possible safely.
